I recommend Ancestry.com to everyone who wants to know about their ancestors and discover relatives. It is well worth the cost of the DNA kit and the subscription.
Difficult to navigate. I have used this site for many years and with upgrade it becomes more confusing. Received message in my e-mail that I had a message. Clicked on link. No message! Just a search page. What am I doing wrong?
We learned so much about all the various branches of our family through Ancestry. Important also was it got me through the Pandemic.
I have thoroughly enjoyed Ancestry for years but for an 80 yr old man it’s become to expensive. Too bad
But you need a delete button for un wanted relationship names when you discover a mistake member and to work on the merging process. You duplicate thins too much causing merges
I can’t get the app to work. Had it for a while and it now won’t allow me to access the main page or my profile. Only option is to create a new tree. I see main page for a split second only. Tried chatbot who sent me to a live tech person on the phone. He said that maybe there was a glitch but didn’t try to help. As I tried going over what I was doing, I realized he had hung up. Ancestry is way too expensive to not have it work and have tech support blame it on a glitch and hang up on you! Guess I won’t be renewing anytime soon!!!!!
This is what I have found!
I was notified that my password had been leaked. When I tried to change my password in Ancestry’s app, it refused to allow me to change the password. I may have to just delete my account and all of the info I spent years finding.
My app keeps force closing and having lots of errors. How do I reach out to someone?
Bug needs to be fixed. When merging two duplicates the app doubles the offspring. Deleting and reinstalling the app does not fix the duplicate view. The only way to correct it is to delete the relationships and re-add them. Very frustrating! Hopefully you’ll fix this issue soon.
Sadly this software became suddenly very difficult to use. Each new update moved things here and there, and nothing works. In addition everything has additional cost! A complete mess.
Glitchy app keeps crashing
Update has made everything worse. Please note that “<notexml>” is constantly showing up before and after everything you type within notes on each person. When I try to erase or cut it just reappears. This has been happening for the last few weeks (now nearly a month) and I was hoping today’s update would fix it but no such luck. This appears on app as well as website. Also, randomly, some edits won’t take. I can edit the spelling or dates and birthplaces of some and others (for no known reason) will not apply the edit. I have updated, removed app and reinstalled, logged in and logged out a million times and nothing is working. In addition, I have gone through the support line and was told it would be “brought to someone’s attention”. Please fix these problems. I have been a premium member for 14 years (paying a ton of money) and persistent problems like these make everything clunky and frustrating.
I love ancestry as it gave me the answers to a few questions. However the cost to get further answers or ad ons for $ is frustrating. I paid for information when I submitted my sample. But to get more answers I I have to pay more $ . Not what I thought it would be
My father is Frank Erwin Corn and my mother is Ruth JoHanna Miller Corn and Karen Ruth Corn Hughes is my sister…but Ancestry has this all screwed up.
Before you used to be able to see the breakdown of my family mom‘s side dad side and when they came from and I can’t say that anymore, you used to show me how much percentage I was and I can’t find that anymore
Even with the latest version of this app on an iPhone 16 pro max I cannot, even connected the WiFi, get the list of hints to load it just keeps doing the circle of death. Even with the emails when you click to see the hint it takes you to just the view of that person on the tree display it doesn’t take you directly to the hint. It never used to be this glitchy. Everything costs extra so what am I paying $26.65 a month for really? I’ve had this for almost 3 years and it’s not worth it. Time to cancel. It’s a ripoff.
I really don't understand this every time I check my DNA it is all different!!! I go from Irish to Scottish to French to English. And all the percentages change. Very confusing
more and more, features of the app are being locked behind a paywall. why even bother paying to take their dna test if you have to pay even more to access any information from it? very frustrating and disappointing.

Only when I paid $40 per month did I ever get value out of this app. After years of spending $480/year, I decided to eliminate the subscription. I haven’t been able to grow my tree since. I don’t have access to anything!
There is a cancellation fee; $25. Doesn’t allow printing
Each time the app is updated a new flaw or glitch is introduced to the app. This last update, they brought back an old glitch that results in me having to download each one of my Trees again…. Not a lot of fun when each tree has 40,000 people ☹️. And just for fun they added another bug that requires the app remain open while the Tree downloads 😡.
I already paid for the dna test. In order for additional information that I already paid for I have to get locked in to a fee that would be impossible to remove from taking my money directly out of my account at renewal time. I’m honestly thinking about using a different company for a new test and removing the app.
I understand with all the work involved why they’d restrict access of records for non-members, but I feel cheated that they also did that with Ancestry DNA. I paid for those DNA results. The way to know however we are related to people is to see what ancestors we have in common, and if they take that away, I feel like they took away what I already paid for. I find that very frustrating and I disagree with it.
Everything on the app is great but when I was adding my new family tree members from oldest on the left to youngest on the right, the app was stupid enough to mix the order of them no matter what I tried to fix it.
I have been a member of Ancestry since 2015 and paid up until last year. I stopped because my account is gone! I had over 25,000 people!! Please help me get back on it ABeriT.

App crashes
Why do you need my location data??? It’s amazing that you charge so much money for the privilege of us uploading documents to your system so that you can charge other people to access them in the future. This app is owned by an org with billions of dollars at its disposal. It’s even been investigated by the SEC. Stop giving them your money.
App keeps force closing
The last few updates have not been kind to the mobile app. I’ve already submitted one bug that makes research long and tedious when using the search feature in the dna match list. Page history is no longer being maintained and using the back arrow will no longer take you back to your previous position. You have to start over every time. Now since the most recent update, my mobile app crashes constantly. I can use it for maybe five minutes before it crashes. I have a large tree so I hate the thought of deleting and reinstalling as this process now takes forever to load and this seldom fixes the problem. We are paying entirely too much to deal with this frustration.
Got this for Christmas one year. Filled in all the information I could find about my family. Then that’s it after that it. You have to pay more to get more information all the cool stuff that you want. Big rip off. I was excited about it too. Big disappointment.
I got an email saying I had a new match and signed on. They now require two step verification which is fine but now I can’t get past the page enrolling in two step. It asks me to enroll over and over. Totally broken.
I downloaded and tried creating an account and it just says something went wrong and to try again later. It’s been days lol
My niece shows as something else. My 1/2 sister shows as a cousin. I can find virtually nothing on my biological father. Only that I share dna with his ancestors. I don’t like that I can’t view documents without buying them. I’ve had it with ancestry.com
Do not know how to erase fake duplicate half sisters
I’m unable to see my DNA results when I’ve had access in the past.
That’s all that they care about. Things that USED to be free, such as, features to help you find family or what your shared matches are. You can’t. It’s locked behind paywall.
After submitting my sample and waiting 6 weeks for it to process, I was told 3 days after the results were due that my sample couldn’t be processed (no explanation on if it was sample itself, the packaging broke, it got lost, etc). They sent me a new kit but when I asked for expedited processing they said that because I didn’t buy the replacement kit (the one Ancestry is sending me) I couldn’t get priority processing. That’s horrible customer service.
Pretty interesting information but it’s pretty lame that you have to pay to get anything more than your countries of origin
I love Ancestry. I’ve been using this since the late 1990’s. Yes, before twas sold to a different name. Lol I would suggest that you keep the older style ways we used to have in there about in 15yrs ago here still however. Otherwise, it’s a tremendous improvement in every single way. For the amount of money per month that they require you to pay, you’d think their app would be so much better. It always force closes on me when I accept hints, plus the app hasn’t changed in years! When are they gonna live in 2025 like everyone else?
Charged >$100 for a membership. I open this app for for a month it’s just completely unresponsive. Loading, loading, loading. The longest I left it to load was 15 minutes. It simply isn’t working.
Always get error messages when uploading pictures. People disappear from my timeline. Headache after headache! Lots of links don’t work. Most of what I found was provided by other people. So we pay to see what others do.
In the past, you could sort and expand profiles. It’s gone backwards. Also looking at profiles only with pictures was a feature that is now gone.
